Our Boutiques

We are a small, female-owned and operated bath and body boutique in North Lake Tahoe centrally located locations at The Village at Palisades Tahoe. Our Palisades Tahoe boutique is celebrating 17 years in business this year.

We offer a variety of unique handmade bath and body products, including handmade soaps (sold by the pound), bath bombs (some with toy surprises inside!), bubble bath cupcakes, fizzy bath cupcakes, bubble bath, sugar scrubs, massage bars, body butters, lotions, and creams, as well as a full line of facial products. We also are a Top Seller of Oprah’s favorite pajamas: Bedhead Pajamas (as seen in O, Vogue, In Style, Vanity Fair and US Weekly) and we carry other popular and respected lines, like Kobo Soy Candles, Sonoma Lavender, and Cat’s Pajamas.

Our History

  • January 1999: Owner Sue Waters moves on from the music business after 8 years of working in Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles in Sales, Marketing, Artist Development, and Radio Promotion, working with the likes of Sheryl Crow, The Gin Blossoms, and U2.

  • March 2000: Sue begins working at Splash Bath & Body in Hermosa Beach, CA shortly after they open their doors.

  • August 2000: Sue becomes partners with Katherine Buchanan, founder and creator of Splash Bath & Body.

  • September 2000: The company (with five partners) begins to franchise with locations in Santa Monica, West Hollywood, San Diego, Las Vegas, The Village at Mammoth Mountain, and The Village at Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe.

  • May 2003: Sue moves from Hermosa Beach to Lake Tahoe to get the store ready for opening.

  • June 2003: Splash Bath & Body opens at The Village at Squaw — celebrating 17 years this year!

  • October 2003: Mich (a long-time Tahoe local) joins the team — and we’ve been working together every since!

  • March 2007: Changed name from Splash Bath & Body to Lather & Fizz Bath Boutique

  • November 2009: Opened a second location at The Village at Northstar — but turned out to be a tough location as visitors are very seasonal there.

  • June 2011: Lather & Fizz in the The Cobblestone of Tahoe City opens.

  • April 2013: Production and Shipping Center moved from Sue’s home to a 2nd floor space above the Tahoe City location — soapmaking/product making/mail order took place in Sue’s house all the years prior while Mich fulfilled web and phone orders out of the Squaw shop.

  • March 2020: Curbside pick-up begins at the Tahoe City location due to COVID-19 — and still going strong!

  • May 2020: New website launches to give our incredible customers a more enjoyable online shopping experience.

  • June 2020: Lather & Fizz Bath Boutique at The Cobblestone transitions to a Pop-Up Shop in our Production & Shipping Center on the second floor — stay tuned for our opening!
